Frequently Asked Questions

Is prenatal massage beneficial for the baby?

Absolutely! Studies have shown that, when you receive a relaxing prenatal massage, the body naturally secretes endorphins. These “feel good” hormones traverse the placenta and ultimately soothe and relax your baby.

When should you start?

The best time to start is after the first trimester when the greatest hormonal and physical changes have taken place and morning sickness is abating. The frequency is up to the individual – typically anywhere between once a week and once a month.

How often should I receive a prenatal massage?

Pregnancy allows for a time of self-nurturing and just like any other therapeutic practice it is best if done on a regular basis. We suggest scheduling prenatal massages at least once a month throughout your second trimester and bi-weekly or weekly as you enter your third.

Is it safe to receive prenatal massage as I approach my due date?

Not only is it safe, but it is also recommended! As you enter your third trimester you will likely feel more uncomfortable and benefit from regularly scheduled prenatal massages the most. Prenatal massage can help alleviate common third-trimester symptoms such as swelling, anxiety, and back pain. Taking the time to nurture yourself and your growing baby will help you relax physically and emotionally as you prepare for birth.

What is the difference between “regular” Swedish massages and prenatal massages?

One of the primary differences between the two is positioning. We offer our clients either facedown positioning utilizing cushions that fully support pregnant mom’s belly or positioning her on the massage table in a side-lying position. We offer Swedish massage techniques integrated with light stretching, reflexology acupressure, and Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®.

What is included in the prenatal/ postpartum massage package?

Our prenatal massage package includes five personalized prenatal massage sessions, each tailored to your specific needs for comfort and effectiveness. The package is priced at $900, offering a $10 discount off the single session rate, and includes a 20% gratuity.
